Visual Recognition on the Sofa
Once again, we could add a new chapter to the IBM Research Challenge. This time, we took on the research area of Visual Recognition.
Claiming that she could give a talk quite comfortably on a sofa, we were able to lure Anca-Nicoleta Ciubotaru out of the IBM Rueschlikon Laboratory and persuade her to do a brief pitch on the topic of intelligent image recognition systems. What we forgot to mention: The sofa is inflatable and is towed across a wintry lake by a speedboat.
As always, a small dose of adrenalin helps to enhance lecture intensity. And we take our hats off to Anca-Nicoleta, especially as that swimming is one of her least favorite pastimes.
